Ayodhya Case HIGHLIGHTS: SC Concludes Hearing Arguments By All Parties, Reserves Judgment

The Supreme Court on Wednesday reserved its judgement in the politically sensitive Ayodhya land dispute case after hearing arguments from all the concerned parties. The development came after a 40 days of non-stop day-to-day hearings amid high drama on the last day of hearing. It is expected that the bench of Judges headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi will announce the judgement in the case within the next 30 days i.e. by November 15, 2019.

New Delhi: The daily hearings in the politically sensitive Ayodhya land dispute  has entered its 40th and the final day, and the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has announced that it shall conclude by 5pm on Wednesday (today).As the proceeding started in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, CJI refused giving more time to the parties.As per the ongoing speculations, the final verdict can be expected before November 17.On Tuesday, when the 39th day of hearing ended, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that Wednesday is 40th and last day of hearing in the case of Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid land title dispute.The protracted hearing in the dispute at Ayodhya entered into the crucial final leg on Monday when the Supreme Court resumed proceedings on the 38th day after the week-long Dussehra break.During the hearing in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, Justice Gogoi said: "Today is 39th day. Tomorrow is 40th day and last day of hearing in the case."The five-judge bench headed by Justice Gogoi was hearing appeals challenging the 2010 Allahabad High Court verdict, which ordered equal division of the 2.77-acre of disputed land in Ayodhya among the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and the Ram Lalla.The 16th-century Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 1992.The top court had recently said that it would wrap up hearing in the case on October 17, a day earlier than it was scheduled to. The judgment is likely to be passed on November 4-5.On Tuesday a Hindu party told the Supreme Court: “A "historical wrong" was committed by Mughal emperor Babur after his conquest of India over 433 years ago by constructing a mosque at the birthplace of Lord Ram in Ayodhya and it needs to be rectified.”Prohibitory orders in Ayodhya:Prohibitory orders under section 144 have been clamped in Ayodhya as the Supreme Court's revised deadline for wrapping up the proceedings in the sensitive Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case approaches.The prohibitory orders will continue till December 10, officials said.

'Can't Continue', CJI Snaps At Final Ayodhya Hearing




Tempers rose inside the Supreme Court chambers on Wednesday -- the final day of hearing in the Ayodhya title dispute case, as the Muslim side tore into shreds a document submitted by the Hindu side, right in front of the five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi.




Prompting a stern reaction from the Chief Justice, who observed that parties involved in the matter were creating an atmosphere not conducive for the hearing.




We cannot continue like this in the hearing. People are getting up and speaking out of turn. We can also get up right now and finish the proceedings in the matter, he said.




On the 40th day of hearing, senior advocate Vikas Singh, representing All India Hindu Mahasabha, submitted a pictorial, identifying the spot of Lord Ram's birthplace at the disputed site along with a book and few documents. Senior advocate Rajeev Dhavan, representing the Muslim side, objected to these submissions citing this document was not on record.




Seeking the five-judge bench's permission to tear the document in court, Dhavan said: ‘May, I have your permission to tear this document....this is Supreme Court and not a joke’, and then he tore the document to pieces.

Temple construction from Dec 6, says Sakshi Maharaj




As the hearing in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case concludes in the Supreme Court, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sakshi Maharaj has announced that Ram temple construction will begin in Ayodhya from December 6.


Incidentally, December 6 was the date when the Babri mosque was demolished in Ayodhya in 1992.


‘It is logical that temple construction should begin on the date when the structure was demolished,’ Sakshi Maharaj said.

A 5-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi has been hearing the Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit for 39 days and had earlier set the deadline to finish arguments on October 18.
